Creating a Unified Catalog Management Center

The client was a major tire and wheel retailer providing selection and supply of components for safe vehicle operation. The primary goal was to develop a centralized database serving as the single source of truth for the entire product range. The project was initiated due to a massive volume of fragmented information: the company worked with over fifteen different suppliers and maintained its own local warehouse. Each partner provided price lists on their own schedule and in completely different formats, from modern REST APIs to heavy multi-page Excel spreadsheets. This created accounting chaos, led to duplicate entries, and prevented timely communication of current prices and actual stock availability to customers.

Client Request: Data Chaos and Manual Tracking of Thousands of Products

The challenge was to eliminate the zoo of formats and inventory conflicts. The same product had different names across suppliers, and wheel parameters were recorded arbitrarily. Managers spent enormous amounts of time manually consolidating spreadsheets, but due to daily price changes and availability updates, information became outdated before publication. A mechanism for weekly updates was needed.

Solution: Developing an ETL Aggregator in 4 Months

A team of three specialists designed the master database architecture and built a process following the classic data collection, transformation, and loading model. We developed a pool of connectors for each partner, implemented deduplication algorithms, and configured incremental synchronization. All complex calculations were moved to a separate layer to avoid overloading the e-commerce storefront.

A powerful DBMS was chosen for reliable storage of raw price lists and execution of heavy normalization procedures. Artificial intelligence helped standardize chaotic text descriptions and parameters. The combination of a modern PHP framework and lightweight relational database ensured instant page delivery to users, pulling only updated row batches through console commands.

The system successfully aggregates over 200,000 items in real time. We eliminated 100% of manual work in product catalog updates, freeing up the company's intellectual resources. The algorithm now automatically selects the best purchase price, enabling flexible markup management.
